Onur Genç (MSIA 1997), Chief Executive Officer of BBVA Group presented on Nov. 4, 2021.
Onur Genç is Chief Executive Officer of BBVA Group since December 2018. He was previously Chairman and CEO of BBVA Compass and U.S. Country Manager for BBVA Group, a position he assumed in 2017.
Genç was previously Deputy CEO for Garanti Bank, BBVA’s subsidiary in Turkey, a position he assumed in 2015. He joined Garanti Bank in 2012 as Executive Vice President responsible for Retail, Private Banking, and Payment Systems.
Before joining BBVA Group, he had various leadership roles with McKinsey & Company. He joined the global management consultancy in 1999 and became a partner in 2004. He eventually rose to senior partner and was named McKinsey’s Turkey office manager in 2009. Genç started out his career in 1997 as a financial controller for American Airlines in Dallas.
Genç holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Boğaziçi University and a Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Carnegie Mellon University.
He is married with two children and lives in Madrid.
