Have Questions About the Programs?
Complete our prospective student form to speak with a staff member and learn more about the programs. We will follow up with you to schedule a virtual appointment. During April, please visit the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to see available opportunities to visit campus as we aren’t able to offer individual appointments. If you have a question that does not involve scheduling an appointment, contact us at uba@andrew.cmu.edu.
We can’t wait to get to know you.
Transferring to the Tepper School
Students at Carnegie Mellon are able to change their primary major into the Tepper School of Business as internal transfer students to pursue the undergraduate business administration or economics majors. Transfer acceptance is evaluated on academic performance and is limited by space.
You may apply for acceptance into the Tepper School twice during an undergraduate career.
Applications are due by 5 p.m. on the last day of classes in the fall and spring semester.
If you are interested in transferring to business administration or economics majors, you should review the Carnegie Mellon course catalog for admission eligibility. A transfer application includes the completed form which includes a resume and personal statement submission.
- Students who are currently in a Tepper School major (Business Administration or Economics) and wish to change their major to another major also in the Tepper School should speak with their academic advisor for that process.
- Students who are currently in economics and wish to change their major to Economics and Politics or Economics and Statistics are encouraged to speak with their economics advisor for that process.
To be eligible to apply for transfer, you must:
- Complete two semesters at Carnegie Mellon University (first year students who start in the fall can apply in spring of their first year)
- For the Business major, these courses must be successfully passed to apply: 70122, 73102, and 21254, 21256, or 21259
- For the Economics major, these courses must be successfully passed to apply: 73102, 73103, and 21254, 21256, or 21359
Carnegie Mellon students exploring a transfer who have questions about the process are encouraged to contact the Tepper School Undergraduate Team at uba@andrew.cmu.edu.
