Building The Intelligent Future: Strategic Plan 2024-2030

Our Mission and Vision

At the Tepper School of Business, our mission is to provide transformative intellectual leadership that advances both the science and practice of management.

As the birthplace of management science, we are committed to developing principled, ethical leaders equipped to generate sustainable value and act as pioneers of change across business and society. By fostering a rigorous academic environment rooted in interdisciplinary inquiry, we prepare problem-solvers to navigate complexity, challenge status-quo thinking, and deliver meaningful global impact.

We are actively shaping the Intelligent Future of Business—an inclusive, innovative, and interdisciplinary paradigm where technology and humanity converge. By combining core business fundamentals with cutting-edge analytics, emerging technologies, and artificial intelligence, we empower decision-makers to harness data responsibly. Our approach ensures that data-informed strategies remain deeply human-driven by amplifying ingenuity, creativity, and empathy to tackle modern business challenges.

Key Highlights and Goals of the Strategic Plan

AI for Business & Collaborative AI

Pioneer the next generation of business applications by integrating artificial intelligence across research, executive education, and degree programs. Through the Center for Intelligent Business and our flagship Collaborative AI signature initiative, the Tepper School will shift business education from static case studies toward true-to-life, personalized simulations while researching the ethical, economic, and societal implications of AI.

Economic Prosperity

Advance broad-based economic growth through interdisciplinary research, policy engagement, and strategic partnerships. Leveraging initiatives such as the Initiative for Inclusive Growth and Prosperity and the Sustainability Initiative, Tepper School faculty and students will address critical societal challenges while deepening global business school partnerships and local community engagement in Pittsburgh.

Entrepreneurial Pursuit

Expand the innovation ecosystem across Carnegie Mellon University by cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset among students, faculty, and alumni. Through the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship and the Corporate Startup Lab, the plan creates agile academic programs, supports early-stage venture creation, and accelerates corporate innovation to quickly respond to shifting market demands.

Core Commitments
