The Tepper School’s Top Academic Athletes Celebrated

Carnegie Mellon University recognized its student-athletes at the Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Celebration on December 13. The annual event, now in its 10th year, celebrated the academic and athletic excellence of juniors and seniors across the university, including those from the Tepper School.
This year's event acknowledged 35 exceptional student-athletes who have maintained an impressive cumulative average GPA of 3.87. Faculty, staff, and academic advisors also attended the event.
Josh Centor, Director of Athletics, emphasized the importance of balance between academics and athletics in his opening address. He highlighted the role of athletics in enriching the academic environment and how student-athletes exemplify a balanced pursuit of diverse passions.
Provost Jim Garrett commended the honorees for their outstanding academic achievements and their dedication to balancing a demanding athletic schedule with rigorous academic commitments.
This year, the Tepper School honored the following student-athletes for their exceptional achievements:
- Libby Eichberger – Junior, Softball
- Eli Kampine – Junior, Men’s Soccer
- Aidan Murphy – Junior, Men’s Basketball
- Denise Pan – Senior, Women’s Golf
- Cole Record – Senior, Football
- Avani Seshiah – Senior, Volleyball
- Derek Wong – Senior, Men’s Tennis
