Tepper School Student-Athletes Honored for Achievements Both On and Off the Field
The Carnegie Mellon community recently came together to celebrate the outstanding academic achievements of its undergraduate student-athletes, including several Tepper School students, at the annual Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Celebration.
This year's honorees, a remarkable group of 36 individuals, have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to both their studies and their sports. With an average GPA of 3.86, and 13 students earning a perfect 4.0, these student-athletes have set a high bar for academic excellence.
“Our Tartans have made us extremely proud with all they've achieved this year,” Carnegie Mellon Provost James Garrett said at the event. “You've impressed us both on the field and off the field. Demonstrating your team-building skills, your determination, and your leadership, as well as your time-management skills.”
Seven Tepper School undergraduate students were recognized for their outstanding accomplishments at the event:
- Caleb Brobst (Football)
- Libby Eichberger (Softball)
- Buckley DeJardin (Basketball)
- Connor Thompson (Football)
- Elizabeth Schlemmer (Volleyball)
- David Zhang (Golf)
- William Burger (Soccer)
“Today we pause to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of our student-athletes who've excelled not only on their teams, but in their academic pursuits as well,” Director of Athletics Josh Center shared via video at the event. “We support your passions not as a secondary part of your education, but as an essential component that contributes to making you whole.”
The event took place on December 11 in the Simmons Auditorium at the Tepper Quad, with Dean Isabelle Bajeux and other Tepper School faculty and staff in attendance to honor the outstanding students.
