Career Hub
Career Hub Overview
Workday's Career Hub is your gateway to growth, mentorship and opportunity. Think of it as a personal guide that connects you to new development and career opportunities. It can help you:
- Explore new roles
- Strengthen your skills and build new ones
- Connect with mentors and
- Join with colleagues in flex teams
The Career Hub does not replace the CMU internal jobs site. Rather, it uses data-driven recommendations to help you explore and connect with people and projects that can help you grow.

Take Action: Explore the Career Hub
- Make sure your Career Profile is up to date. Your skill review, skill assessments, skill and job interests are contribute significantly to your suggestions in the Career Hub. All of these can be updated via your Career Profile or the edit capability on the Career Hub.
- Within your Career Hub, create a Career Path to focus on career growth and mobility.
- Take time to learn more about Workday Mentoring or Flex Teams to prepare you for your engaged participation in these new development tools.

Career Path Builder Overview
The Career Path Builder enables you to own your professional development journey by planning your next steps. It helps you identify career opportunities and suggests development based on the skills associated with a potential new role.

Learn how the Career Path Builder can point you to potential career opportunities based on historical data, your job profile and your career profile.
Take Action: Create a Career Path
- Review and assess the viability of the suggested roles based on your interest and whether the roles represent your desired career path.
- Consider suggestions to identify additional skills that you may need to succeed in the role(s) in your career path.
- Explore skill development opportunities including flex teams or mentoring.
Feedback
Feedback Overview
Part of taking charge of your development is measuring progress toward goals. Feedback is one way to gather information. Feedback providers can either endorse your skills or decline. If they endorse, it shows up in your feedback received section (also found in the career hub quick links).

- Validate observed strengths
- Contribute to your Workday skill profile
- Help surface areas of expertise across the organization
Endorsed skills appear on the employees' profile and are visible to the employee's supervisor and next-level supervisor.

- From the quick links in the career hub, select Get Feedback on Self to get started.
- Complete the feedback form, including the name of the person you'd like feedback from — a flex team host, mentor or someone familiar with the skill you've chosen.
- Visit the Feedback Received section of the career hub quick links to view endorsements.
Manager Insights Hub
Manager Insights Hub Overview
At CMU, supervisors are central to ensuring that employees are engaged members of our community, focused on our mission and strategic goals. Information is key to the role of the supervisor. The Manager Insights Hub allows supervisors to spend less time looking for what they need to know or taking action on administrative tasks, so they have more time for meaningful interactions with their team members.

Learn how to use the Manager Insights Hub to view pending actions and development and career insights for your team.
Take Action: Use the Manager Insights Hub
- Review and complete pending actions for your team including PTO requests, hiring and staffing actions and time entries.
- Prepare for development discussions by examining the Career Overview section that highlights your team members' latest career activity. This may include skills, skill interests, goals, suggested actions to support development and suggested opportunities.
Flex Teams and Mentoring in Workday
- Flex teams in Workday create a talent marketplace for teams or hosts to identify participants with desired skills to help achieve a goal. In parallel, individuals can identify opportunities to develop their skills through practical applications, gaining experience and an opportunity to obtain skill endorsements.

The mentoring program in Workday facilitates employee-initiated mentorships based on shared skill interests and development goals. Employees can request to be identified as a mentor, highlighting specific skills within their areas of expertise. Employees seeking skill development can search for and request a connection with an available mentor.
Workday Flex Teams Overview
A flex team is a group of employees temporarily assigned (for 12 months or less) to a project team, working group or task based on evolving organizational initiatives, advisory or governance needs, seasonal demands or volunteer opportunities. Participation in a flex team also provides an option to provide team members feedback on skills that have been demonstrated while on the team.
A flex team is not a project management tool or a means of tracking time and cost. Flex teams are not permanent nor intended for full-time projects or ongoing initiatives.

Host a Flex Team in Workday
- Complete the Flex Team Host Workday Journey for details on creating and hosting a flex team and inviting or accepting participants.
- Use the Flex Team communications template to invite participants from outside of the pilot groups.
Join a Flex Team in Workday
- Ensure your skill review, assessments, and skill interests are up to date.
- Visit the Career Hub and view the flex team and other development experiences suggested for you.
- Express interest in a flex team and await approval.
Workday Mentoring Overview
Mentoring in Workday is a self-directed, informal mentorship program driven by shared skill interests and development goals. Mentoring provides an opportunity to request feedback about your progress toward skill development goals.
- Workday Mentoring will not replace formal programs.
- Employees can select mentors from any participating area.
- Mentoring relationship should last for nine months or less.

Become a Mentor in Workday
- Ensure that your Career Profile is up to date.
- In the Career Hub Quick Links section, select Request to be a Mentor and complete the form.
- You will be notified once approved by your supervisor and program partner.
- Complete the Mentor Workday Journey to understand your role as mentor.
