Star Broadus, Manager, Temporary Employment Services and Operations (TES)

Since joining Carnegie Mellon University in 2022 as the manager of Temporary Employment Services, Star has significantly contributed to organizational success. She ensures departments stay productive during transitions, peak workloads or special projects by providing talented temporary staff. Star has also broadened the department's focus beyond administrative roles to encompass academic support services.
A committed member of the university community, Star serves as a divisional representative on Staff Council and co-chairs the Food Drive Committee. She is an alumna of the Executive Leadership Academy: Strategies for Advancing Women.
With over 20 years of cross-industry experience, Star brings deep insight to her work in HR. She holds an MBA from Carlow University and a BA in Public Administration from the University of Pittsburgh.
In her free time, Star enjoys family activities, traveling, discovering new restaurants and binge-watching great shows.

Christine joined the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) as a senior recruiter in February 2013, bringing extensive experience in tech industry recruiting during pivotal years of growth and transformation.
She holds a B.S. in business from Carlow University, a master's in leadership from Duquesne University, and a master's in public policy from Carnegie Mellon's Heinz College.
Prior to NREC, Christine was a senior recruiter at McKinsey & Company, where she led Navy Nuclear recruiting efforts and traveled extensively, both domestically and internationally. She recruited top talent from universities like UPenn, Georgia Tech, and the University of Michigan, and hired MBAs and consultants for McKinsey's Atlanta and Orange County offices.
Christine's passion for people and recruiting has shaped a dynamic career working with top professionals in both civilian and military sectors.
Outside of work, she enjoys time with her family and three dogs, frequenting New Jersey beaches and exploring Pennsylvania, including historic Gettysburg. Her hobbies include real estate, gardening and home decorating. She served on the Penn Hills Community Development Corporation board, organizing two successful home tours, and holds two state licenses, a paralegal certificate, and is a Pennsylvania notary. Christine remains active in her community, currently leading local efforts to reunite lost dogs with their owners.

Taher Giaedi began his professional career working at the Toyota Manufacturing Plant in Georgetown, Kentucky, while pursuing a bachelor's degree in political science at the University of Kentucky. He then completed his master's in health administration. He worked on his fellowship in healthcare strategic planning at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. After finishing the fellowship, he accepted a position with the VA as a program analyst at the Louisville VA Medical Center in the Quality Department.
Dr. Giaedi continued his career with the Department of Veterans Affairs, moving to the Lexington VA Medical Center to serve as the assistant chief of Health Administration. Later, he took on the role of chief of Health Administration at the Richmond VA Medical Center.
While advancing through the ranks, he pursued his doctorate in health administration, earning his degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Giaedi has an interest in performance improvement and applying Lean Six Sigma in healthcare organizations. During his doctoral studies, he worked on a research project titled "Using Structural Equation Model to Study the Impact of Organizational Culture and Nursing Work Environment on Nursing and Patient Satisfaction."
After 14 years with the VA healthcare system, he moved to Qatar to serve as the chief operating officer of the Qatar Red Crescent Medical Affairs Division. Currently, he is the director of Human Resources and Operations at Carnegie Mellon University, a role he has held since 2019. Taher provides strategic HR support for our CMUQ campus, partnering with leaders to recruit and place talent.
Outside of work, Taher loves football; he has been a Steelers fan since 1978. He enjoys walking and swimming, and he spends time sharing his experiences with others through workshops and one-on-one consultations.

Elizabeth joined Carnegie Mellon University in August 2023, initially working as a benefits administrator as part of CMU's Health and Welfare Benefits team. In November 2024, Elizabeth pivoted to the Talent Acquisition department, where she now serves as a recruiter.
Elizabeth holds two degrees from Duquesne University: a B.A. in English and an M.A. in corporate communications. Over the course of her career, she has worked in a variety of human resources functions, including benefits administration, recruiting operations, employee onboarding and HR communications. She began her career recruiting in a manufacturing environment, going on to work in the law and tech spheres, and was delighted to return to her roots with her recent transition to the recruiter role at CMU.
Across the HR functions in which she has worked, Elizabeth's focus has always been on the candidate/customer experience. Whether the client is a candidate seeking a new role, an employee striving to better understand their healthcare benefits, or a new hire attempting to acclimate themselves to an unfamiliar environment, she seeks to make the experience as smooth and comfortable as possible for them. She believes that empathy and kindness can improve all experiences and are vital parts of any professional interaction, and has found that "matchmaking" a perfect fit for a role between a candidate and an organization is one of the more fulfilling aspects of her current role at CMU.
Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her partner, family, friends and her beloved cat. She is also passionate about the arts and performs in local theater productions around the Pittsburgh area as an actor and singer. When not at work or onstage, she can be found exploring the local restaurant scene, strolling through one of Pittsburgh's wide array of museums, attending concerts all over the city or buried in a good book.

Kaitlyn is a recruiting coordinator supporting the Talent Acquisition team at Carnegie Mellon University. She manages key operational processes such as pre-employment background checks, expense reporting, and audit and compliance activities. In addition, she facilitates candidate communications and collaborates with departments university-wide to ensure a seamless onboarding experience
Before joining CMU in April 2025, Kaitlyn spent four years as a field support specialist at Amergis Healthcare Staffing, overseeing the complete onboarding process for new hires. In this role, she worked closely with candidates and internal teams to ensure smooth transitions. Her expertise includes employment paperwork, medical clearances, background checks, child protective clearances and I-9 verifications.
Kaitlyn holds a bachelor's degree in corporate communications from Duquesne University, where she developed a strong foundation in interpersonal and organizational communication.
Outside of work, Kaitlyn enjoys long walks around the city, traveling and trying out new recipes.

Matt Lemarie, Senior Recruiter

Matt joined Carnegie Mellon in July 2022, bringing with him more than seven years of experience spanning talent acquisition, people management and employee development. After studying communications at Penn State, he began his career as a recruiting manager at a Pittsburgh-based call center, later expanding his expertise across multiple industries.
At CMU, he is the senior recruiter for University Advancement, overseeing full-life cycle recruitment and contributing to strategic hiring initiatives.
Beyond his recruiting responsibilities, Matt is an active member of Staff Council, leads the staff component of the Dual Career Program and participates in projects aimed at enhancing the university's hiring practices.
Outside of work, Matt is a die-hard Commanders fan (sorry, Steeler Nation). He enjoys hiking, exploring new places and spending quality time with his wife and their two dogs.

Nuvia Nishad is a seasoned human resources and talent acquisition professional with over a decade of progressive experience in recruitment, HR strategy and organizational development. She holds a master of public management from Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College and a bachelor of science in accounting and management with a minor in finance from La Roche University.
Nuvia began her career at Carnegie Mellon University in 2012, advancing through multiple HR roles where she managed full-cycle recruiting, implemented compliance processes, and contributed to HR systems projects, including Workday Recruit. She later served as a senior HR specialist at Federated Hermes, where she led recruitment strategies, managed compliance and strengthened university partnerships.
Since joining the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) in August 2022 as a senior technical recruiter, Nuvia has led niche talent acquisition efforts, managed full-cycle recruiting, guided visa processing, and collaborated with leadership to transform internal recruitment processes. In the interim, she has also coordinated and created social media content and developed and managed internal company newsletters to strengthen communication and engagement. Her expertise spans talent strategy, HR systems (Workday, Taleo, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Dayforce), and interview methodology, supported by certifications as a Society for Human Resources Management-Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and Motivation-Based Interview Certified Trainer (MBI-CT).
Beyond her professional role, Nuvia is committed to mentorship and community engagement. She regularly offers resume reviews and interview coaching to students, helping them prepare for career opportunities. Allison Parshall is a senior recruiter in the Office of Human Resources at Carnegie Mellon University, where she has served the CMU community since 2006. With over twenty years of experience in human resources, she offers deep expertise in recruitment, talent strategy, employee relations and university operations. In her current role, Allison collaborates with hiring managers across the institution to meet diverse hiring and sourcing needs.
She started her career at CMU with the Software Engineering Institute before moving to central OHR to expand her impact university-wide. Allison holds a B.A. in business administration from Westminster College and an MBA from Waynesburg University. Lori Pometo, Senior Recruiting Coordinator

As senior recruiting coordinator, Lori provides essential operational and administrative support to the talent acquisition team through every stage of the recruitment process. Her work is vital to ensuring the university attracts and places talented individuals while maintaining compliance. She manages pre-employment background checks and acts as a liaison between the Office of Human Resources and campus partners, as well as external vendors.
Before joining Carnegie Mellon University in December 2024, Lori accumulated seven years of human resources experience, focused on processing and onboarding new hires. Her background includes performing background checks, leading onboarding sessions, auditing I-9s, presenting new hire orientations and being the first point of contact for HR-related questions.
Lori earned an associate's degree in education from the Community College of Allegheny County and a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Point Park University.
In her free time, Lori enjoys creative pursuits, TV and movies, and quality time with friends, family, and her Chihuahua mix, Charlie. Depending on the day, she loves exploring something new or relaxing with a good book or TV show.

DeAnna joined Carnegie Mellon University in May 2021 as an HR generalist II, supporting the College of Engineering, the Provost's Office, and the Entertainment Technology Center. She was responsible for streamlining Workday processes, collaborating with business and HR colleagues to address challenges, and ensuring a seamless employee experience across her client groups.
In July 2022, she moved into her current role as a recruiter, where she now supports the Mellon College of Science, Finance Division and the UEIS division. DeAnna works closely with hiring managers to develop tailored strategies for attracting and engaging top talent. She utilizes creative sourcing methods, consults on national and international recruitment efforts, and contributes to special projects, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
DeAnna is a proud alumna of the University of Pittsburgh, holding a B.A. in history of art and architecture with a minor in museum studies. She is also a SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and an active member of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA).

With over a decade of experience in higher education admissions, legal recruiting, project management and talent acquisition, she offers both breadth and depth to her position. Since joining CMU, Kaylea has supported a variety of campus groups such as the College of Fine Arts, Finance Division, University Police Department, Dietrich College, Admissions, Computing Services and Mellon College of Science. Today, she works closely with Dietrich College, the Tepper School of Business and the Division of Student Affairs, helping them build strong, talented teams.
Kaylea is passionate about making the hiring process smoother and more positive for all participants. Through reimagining recruitment services and programs, under her leadership, CMU has become more effective at attracting, engaging and placing world-class talent. Megan is a two-time Andy Award nominee and previously served as a CMU at-large Staff Council representative.
Engaged in her community, Megan is a member of the Carnegie Mellon Women's Association, CUPA-HR, and the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association (PHRA), as well as a participant in the Leadership Pittsburgh, Leadership Development Initiative XXXIII cohort. She holds a B.A. in human resource management and an M.S. in employment and labor relations from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and she brings over a decade of experience in HR, employee relations and talent acquisition across the retail, financial services and higher education sectors.
As a leader, Megan is dedicated to fostering a collaborative, transparent and high-performing culture.
