Bio

Mr. Longo possesses extensive and varied experience in health care management and strategy development gained through over 25 years in the healthcare industry. He has in-depth knowledge in the areas of strategic planning, medical group practice operations, provider reimbursement, quality improvement/benchmarking processes, managed care and new services development. 

He is currently a Business Consultant with Duquesne University/School of Business/ Small Business Development Center (SBDC) where he assists new and existing businesses in the areas of business plan development: financial forecasting/financial statement development: marketing strategy and implementation plans. Previous positions held include Senior Consultant for RIOL; LLC a boutique consulting firm specializing in Group Medical Practice Management, Pay for Performance, Accountable Care Organizations (ACO’S) and Productivity based physician-based compensation. Senior Vice President, Network Management for Devon Health Services, Inc. King of Prussia, PA, one of the largest regional PPO’s in the Northeast encompassing a network in five states with a membership of apx five hundred thousand covered lives. Mr. Longo had responsibility for entire network operations inclusive of hospitals, physicians and ancillary service providers: Vice President, Network Management Excellus BCBS Greater New York, Vice President Provider Initiatives Highmark BCBS Pittsburgh, PA, Executive Director, Monongahela Valley Physician/Hospital Organization, Monongahela, PA., President, St. John Management Services Organization. Inc., Steubenville, Ohio, Director, Physician Support Services Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh PA as well as other clinical and management positions.

He has served as a presenter for various healthcare organizations including the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). Rich has also served as adjunct facility at Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh, PA and the University of Pittsburgh.

Rich received his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (cum laude) from Duquesne University Pittsburgh, PA and a Master’s Degree (magna cum laude) from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also duly “Fellowed” in both the American College of Health Care Executives (ACHE) and the American College of Medical Practice Executives (ACMPE) and only one of a few individuals nationally who have attained this “dual’ status.
