Bio

Kelly George, PhD, is currently the Open Innovation Leader at the Clorox Company for the Burt's Bees and Better Health Vitamins, Minerals, Supplements (VMS) Business Units.

Dr. George brings broad upstream-to-downstream R&D experience from working 15+ years in both the consumer products (Clorox, L’Oréal, P&G) and the pharmaceutical industries (Roche & Merck). She has held a variety of R&D roles with experience in medicinal chemistry/drug discovery, formulation, product development, global project & alliance management, consulting and external/open innovation, especially partnerships, academic collaborations and startup ecosystem efforts. Dr. George is an expert at identifying technical solutions and translating these to business opportunities.

Dr. George graduated from Washington & Jefferson College with a B.A. in Chemistry and English. She obtained her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania.  She currently serves on the UPENN Chemistry Scientific Advisory Board, the Washington & Jefferson Alumni Executive Committee, and the Edison Biotech Institute Board of Directors at Ohio University. Dr. George is passionate about advancing Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, and served on the American Chemical Society (ACS) Women Chemists Committee (WCC).
