Bio

Justin Olshavsky is a founder and general partner of Pioneer Bio+Health Fund.  He leads investments in early stage medtech, biotech, and healthcare companies.

Previously, he founded Voyage Biomedical, a medtech company using hypothermia to reduce brain damage from stroke.  The company was backed by top silicon valley investors, including Y Combinator, and was acquired by Penumbra (NYSE:PEN).  He was the technical founder and CTO of Voyage, and has a background in mechanical engineering (Clemson) and bioengineering (UC Berkeley / UCSF).

With his company Voyage, he completed the I-corps National Program, and received funding from the National Science Foundation.  He started Voyage as a student at UC Berkeley, and has extensive experience mentoring companies spinning out of academia, and helping them raise capital.
