Bio

Phil has served as a founding C-level executive with seven startups spanning the consulting, entertainment, environmental services, medical devices, and regenerative medicine industries. One exists today as Cook Myosite and for another, Jump Start Associates, Time CapitalistsSM, he assisted early-stage businesses prepare for their first outside capital and as an active member of their management team. He is currently COO of OK2StandUP that is empowering older adults to stay in their homes safe from falls and President of Brooks Consulting LLC which offers grant support to small businesses.

Brooks Consulting is a Preferred Provider with both Pennsylvania’s Innovation Partnership (assisting clients who are awarded MicroGrant, MicroVoucher or Federal Marketing Assistance funding), and the ScaleUp West Virginia SBIR/STTR Assistance Program. Submitting to six agencies (DOD, DOE, DOT, ED, NIH, NSF), our work has resulted in awards totaling almost $9 million in grants to our clients. 

Previously, Phil was an Entrepreneur in Residence with the University of Pittsburgh's Innovation Institute, where he co-led the National Science Foundation-funded I-Corps Site program to help faculty researchers and students listen to customers and help them build market winning value into their innovative solutions. Phil owned a public relations firm focused on the high-tech sector, served as a director with Big Six accounting firms in Pittsburgh, was a partner with an economic consulting firm in Washington, DC and worked as an analytical research chemist in the pharmaceutical sector in New York. He is a member of BlueTree Allied Angels’ Screening Committee, and a Board Member of the Pittsburgh Entrepreneur's Forum. He has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, an MS in Pharmacotherapeutics from LIU Brooklyn and a BS in Biology from the University of Connecticut.
