Get Your New Device Campus-Ready
Got a new device? Let's get it ready for campus.
Update Your DUO
At Carnegie Mellon, we use two-factor authentication (2fa) with DUO to add an extra level of security to your online accounts and make it even more difficult for hackers to access your information.
- Visit 2fa.cmu.edu.
- Click Manage Devices to add your new phone with the same number to your Andrew account.
- Follow the prompts, to set up your new device with DUO.
If backup is enabled, you can also use Instant Restore to transfer your DUO account information to your new device.
Lock It Down
Just because you’ve just opened your new gadget doesn't mean it’s got the latest and greatest software installed. That’s important, because new versions often contain important security updates designed to keep your device and your information safe and unwanted visitors out. Update your device software now to keep your device secure for the semester to come.
Get Connected
When you get to campus, connect your device to the CMU-SECURE wireless network. This network is also used for laptops, phones, and tablets with browsers.
Note: You must be on campus to complete this step, so it is one item on your checklist that will have to wait until you’re back on campus.
