Web Conferencing

Web conferencing is an online solution for holding live meetings, webinars, and sharing video and your screen. The only requirements? A wired or wireless device and an Internet connection.

All of our web conferencing solutions support both voice and video conferencing, as well as other features, including Q & A, polling, shared annotation, discussions, shared whiteboards, screen sharing, and much more. In addition, some of our solutions integrate with our Teaching & Learning spaces.

The following web conferencing options are available at CMU. Not sure which solution is right for you? See the Web Conferencing Comparison Table to find the best solution for your needs.

Zoom

CMU's preferred web conferencing solution, offering screen sharing, Q&A options, and recording functionality. You can host a Zoom meeting instantly, once you've installed the software. You get all of the basic Zoom features, like screen sharing, polling, and meeting recording capability, plus unlimited meeting time with up to 100 people, and all at no charge to you via the Zoom App.

Hangouts Meet

A real-time communication solution through video for up to 50 people. No need to create a G Suite account or use your personal one. Your Andrew UserID is already set up with G Suite, so you can begin using Hangouts Meet immediately to host meetings.

Cisco WebEx

Cisco WebEx is a fee-based service that allows participants to join the conversation through any web browser. Though it works similarly to Zoom, with many of the same great features, there is a monthly fee with CMU's WebEx service.
