Event Selection Guide

The Computing Services team provides professional technical support for in-person, online, and hybrid events across Carnegie Mellon University. From audio-visual setups to live broadcasts and special equipment rentals, our team ensures your event runs smoothly, whether it's a simple meeting or a large-scale conference.

Note: All events are supported based on availability. Early requests are encouraged, especially for evenings and weekends.

In-Person

We provide technical support for in-person meetings, lectures, and special events on campus and at select off-campus locations.

Services include:

  • Audio support (microphones, speakers, sound mixers)
  • Video projection (slideshows, videos)
  • Recording services (includes one hour of post-production editing)
  • Live broadcasting (optional; streamed to overflow rooms or online audiences)
  • On-site technical operation and support

Online-Only Events

Host professional-quality online events such as webinars, virtual lectures, and online meetings.

Services include:

  • Zoom webinar or meeting setup and management
  • Presenter technical coordination and virtual green room
  • Attendee interaction support (chat, Q&A, polling)
  • Optional recording and post-production editing

Hybrid Events

Seamlessly combine in-person and online participation for hybrid events.

Services include:

  • Audio and video support in the physical space
  • Zoom or webinar link setup and support
  • Live broadcast to online participants
  • Recording services for both in-person and online components

Special Equipment

We also offer a range of special equipment to enhance your event.

Equipment:

  • Confidence monitor (for presenter viewing)
  • Sound mixer (for multiple audio sources)
  • Video switcher (for multiple video sources)
  • Easel pads and markers (for workshops or brainstorming)
  • Uplights

Equipment availability varies and may require Media Services support.
