Alternatives for MinutesLink Software

Several members of our community received a marketing email inviting them to join MinutesLink. While the email itself is not harmful, clicking the link will prompt the MinutesLink Calendar service to access your contacts and send them invites to join.

MinutesLink is not an approved application at CMU, and the university does not have an agreement in place to support its use. As a result, access has been removed to protect university data and accounts.

Approved Tools

CMU offers several approved tools that assist with note-taking, summaries, and follow-up actions without giving third-party apps extensive access to accounts. Visit our software catalog for a complete list of approved titles.

  • Zoom’s AI Companion offers meeting summaries and post-meeting insights when activated by the meeting host. Since these features are integrated into CMU’s Zoom application, there is no need to authorize external services.
  • Google Meet provides transcription tools that capture the meeting experience.
  • Microsoft Teams also includes similar transcription capabilities.

Detailed Analysis and Summary

You can download transcripts from any of these tools and input them into the Gemini Web App for detailed analysis and summarization.

Request Software

If the approved options do not meet your needs, the next step is to submit a software request so that the tool can be assessed for security, privacy, and contractual compliance.
