How to Connect to Wireless

There are many wireless network options available across campus, however that doesn't mean you should connect to the first one your device finds. Review the What wireless network do I need? section below to choose the correct network for your device(s).

What wireless network do I need?

CMU-SECURE

Use for devices that can access a browser, such as:

  • Laptop and desktop computers
  • Smartphones
  • iPads and other tablets

Connect to CMU-SECURE

CMU-DEVICE

Use for devices that cannot access a browser, such as:

  • Smart TVs
  • Streaming sticks, such as Roku's or Fire Sticks
  • Gaming consoles
  • Media players
  • Digital Assistants, such as Alexa

Connect to CMU-DEVICE

CMU-GUEST

Use for visitors to CMU.

This network is only used by guests who are visiting CMU. Faculty or staff may create a temporary access code to CMU-GUEST for visiting members outside of the CMU campus community.

EDUROAM

Visiting from another academic institution? The eduroam service provides free wireless access at education and research institutions world-wide. Those visiting Carnegie Mellon from a member institution can access our wireless eduroam network using their university email address and password.
