How to Use the Gemini Web App

Google Gemini Web App is Google’s GenAI standalone tool for writing, research, and idea generation based on natural-language prompts.

Gemini provides additional data protection when you access this tool using your Andrew userID. Google will not retain your prompts or responses to train its AI models.

When you log in with your CMU account, Google does not use your prompts and responses for AI training, and uploaded documents are not retained beyond your session.

  1. Visit gemini.google.com.
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Log in using your Andrew userID and password, then authenticate with Duo.

IMPORTANT: If you’re logged in correctly, a shield will display in the Chat window letting you know enterprise protections are in place.

Use Google Gemini Gems

Gemini Gems are customizable, task-focused, lightweight agents within Google Gemini. You can train them to respond in specific ways, provide supporting documentation, and maintain that context across interactions. They’re designed to offer quick, reliable help with writing, editing, summarizing, and idea generation.
