Winter Break Classroom Upgrades

During the winter break, several Porter Hall classrooms received technological upgrades. These improvements are designed to provide our faculty with effective and easy-to-use tools that encourage engaging teaching and support a seamless hybrid learning experience.

High-Quality Projection

Every classroom will be outfitted with a laser projector and a projection screen, ensuring bright and clear visibility for all course materials.

Integrated A/V Lectern

Each room features an Audio Visual lectern, with:
  • A touch panel for easy management of all A/V functions.
  • A document camera for quickly sharing physical materials.
  • A Blu-ray player for high-definition media playback.
  • A cable cubby that provides various connectivity options, including power outlets, HDMI, USB-C video connections, and wired network access.
  • Wireless presentation capabilities allow both faculty and students to share content effortlessly from any device.

Hybrid Learning Ready

Each classroom is equipped with Zoom-ready technology, including an integrated camera and microphone, to support seamless instruction in both in-person and remote settings. You can easily start a Zoom meeting using the touch panel, which provides greater control over the room's cameras and other technologies.

The new technology is installed in the following rooms of Porter Hall: A18A, A18B, A18C, A19, A19A, A19C, A19D, A20, A20A, A21, A21A, and A22.

Additionally, we replaced the wireless presenting units in the classroom with new technology. You’ll notice Crestron AirMedia is now used instead of Mersive Solstice pods. The instructions remain the same: simply tap Wireless Presentation on the panel and follow the on-screen steps to connect your device.

These upgrades reflect our commitment to modernizing teaching spaces and equipping faculty with optimal tools to achieve their educational goals.
