Tableau Server Access Levels
Different levels of server access are available to best manage and scale licensing based on needs.

| Viewer |
Allows users to view and interact with workbooks in the Enterprise Tableau Server. Also allows users to access Tableau Mobile, add comments to workbooks, download .png and .pdf versions of workbooks and workbook summary data, create subscriptions, and receive data-driven alerts. |
| Explorer |
All of the features of Viewer with additional access to workbook authoring capabilities using a web browser and a full set of collaboration features. |
| Creator |
All of the features of Explorer with additional Enterprise Tableau Server capabilities, including creating and publishing new workbooks from a new data source and editing embedded data sources in the Data pane. This license allows the use of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Prep. |
Site Administrators should follow the License Key Requests instructions to effectively manage users and existing licenses.
