“Sweet” Events To Learn About Dietrich College Majors

Throughout the month of April, Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences undergraduates will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about some of the college’s departments with the added bonus of enjoying a delicious treat.

From meeting departments’ faculty to chatting with upperclassman about their experiences, students interested in pursuing additional or alternative majors won’t want to miss these events. 

Economics 

Economics Open House
Tuesday, April 3, 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., Tepper Hall 322

Pop over to the Tepper School of Business to see what’s happening in economics while enjoying a delicious Pittsburgh Popcorn buffet. Students will have the opportunity to:

Department of Social and Decision Sciences 

Waffle Registration Brunch
Wednesday, April 4, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., SDS Conference Room Porter Hall 223D

Join the Department of Social and Decision Sciences to talk with faculty, staff and friends about fall 2018 courses. New students will have the opportunity to ask questions and get the real scoop from upperclassman as well as faculty.

Faculty teaching in the fall also will be available to discuss their upcoming courses with descriptions and previous syllabi. 

Upperclassmen are encouraged to come and share their registration and course expertise with other students. Seniors in particular are encouraged to wear their SDS fleeces.

This will be an informal event. All SDS students are welcome to attend and enjoy free waffles.

Stop by the Department of History to learn about the upcoming fall 2018 courses. Talk with faculty and program advisors while enjoying ice cream from Oakland’s own, Dave & Andy’s.

Students can also explore more information on a major or an additional major in social & political historyglobal studies or ethics, history & public policy.

Meet and Greet with the English Department
Monday, April 16, 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., CUC  Peter/McKenna/Wright Rooms

A panel of diverse English Department alumni will convene to show prospective students and their parents as well as freshmen and undeclared students the wide variety of career options available for those with English degrees. Additionally, alumni share the trajectories of their professional lives and how they got from graduation to where they are now.
