Carnegie Mellon University

Professional Development

Both the Dietrich College and Carnegie Mellon are committed to helping students develop professionally.

At the university level, the Career and Professional Development Center is a great resource for students. Services offered include resume and cover letter writing assistance, jobs and internship searches, career preparation, career fair information and much more.

The Fellowship and Scholarships Office helps students fulfill their intellectual and professional goals by pursuing nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships.

Within the Dietrich College, several resources and programs are available for students to develop outside of the classroom, including:

Study Abroad - Combine your undergraduate Carnegie Mellon degree program with a semester or year abroad, and enjoy the best of both worlds: intercultural exchange and academic credits towards your degree.

Undergraduate Research - Compliment what you are learning in the classroom by participating in and conducting research.

Internship Opportunity Grants - Dietrich College encourages students to find and undertake interesting internship opportunities for their summer employment. We understand that many of these opportunities are unpaid, or, at best, provide minimal pay.

Dietrich College Internship Insider - If you’re not sure what kind of internship is right for you or even what is possible, check out the Dietrich College Internship Insider for profiles of current students and their internship experiences.

Dietrich Honors Fellowship Program - This program provides summer funding support to rising seniors in the Dietrich College senior honors program as they undertake early-stage research and development of their thesis topics.
