Phi Beta Kappa Inducts 20 Students

Twenty students have been initiated into Carnegie Mellon University’s chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society (PBK), including 13 students affiliated with the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences.

The nation’s oldest honor society, PBK celebrates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Only 290 of the nation’s leading colleges and universities have a chapter, while each of those chapters select only 10 percent of their school’s arts and sciences graduates to join.

This year’s virtual initiation ceremony included remarks from William Alba, PBK chapter president; Jason D’Antonio, Mellon College of Science’s faculty representative to PBK and Joseph E. Devine, PBK chapter secretary and treasurer.
