Purpose

To determine the extent to which a subject’s parents were involved socially during the subject’s childhood and adolescence.

Description

Subjects report the frequency with which their parents were involved in a variety of social activities. Questions are asked at 3 time points: ages 5, 10, & 15

Scaling

1 = Less than once a month, 2 = Once a month, 3 = Once every two or three weeks, 4 = Once a week, 5 = More than once a week

Number of Items

 15 (5 items * 3 ages)

  • How often did your parents go out for the evening with friends?
  • How often did your parents go to meetings of political, social, recreation, or civic clubs?
