As I enter my final year at CMU, I would like to create a project that utilizes and unifies my diverse experiences. While most theses are either research-based or arts and creative humanities, I would like my thesis to be a combination of both. I plan to investigate significant changes and movements in the history of American education. However, rather than create a paper summarizing these findings, I would like to study how this history can be used to empower students to fight for the changes they desire in their own educations. Then I would like to turn these findings into a board game that high school students would enjoy using in the classroom.

Bio

Daphne grew up loving and learning board games. Since helping design an iteration of the transformational board game Outbreak in Human Computer Interactions Institute, she has been looking for an opportunity to combine this passion for games with her desire to improve equity in the American education system. Outside the classroom, Daphne enjoys tutoring through Mathnasium and the Alliance for Refugee Youth Support and Education.
