Knowledge, creativity, and innovation
Welcome to the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholar Development
At Carnegie Mellon, the integration of education and research is pervasive throughout our institution. In this environment, our students are empowered to discover their passions, advance their ideas and understanding, learn and create new knowledge and art, make a positive impact through their efforts, and realize their own full potential.
The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholar Development (OURSD) is a key resource for students to engage fully in their CMU experience through research and creative pursuits and to explore options such as competitive national and international fellowships as they prepare for their own personal and professional success. The OURSD team works directly with students, faculty, advisors, staff members, and alumni, as well as academic and administrative partners to support each student’s educational journey.
Connect with Us!
Students and alumni can schedule meetings with the OURSD staff in either virtual or in-person formats. There may be some blocks that are restricted to virtual only, so be sure to take note of available formats before scheduling. Appointments are limited this spring, so please plan meetings well in advance of deadlines. Please schedule with one of our staff through Handshake! Choose "Specialized Appointments" then "Undergraduate Research and Fellowship/Scholarship Appointments."
