2022 Year in Review

Welcome to the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ 2022 Year in Review.

In the following pages, you’ll learn more about the ways our distinguished faculty, staff, students and alumni are working across disciplinary boundaries to improve the human condition.

Our faculty members continue to tackle some of society’s most difficult challenges through their scholarly work. They’ve explored issues regarding race in poetry and theater, the genetics behind autism and how self-persuasion plays a role in polarized speech. In this publication, you’ll also find links to “Faculty Spotlights,” a new series of Q&A sessions that feature our new and junior faculty members.

Beyond our campus, you’ll see Dietrich College’s impact throughout the Pittsburgh region. Our undergraduates, in particular, are benefiting from a growing number of experiential learning opportunities that introduce them to the concept of community engagement. We seek to prepare students to engage with their communities to create lasting social change and ignite an interest in lifelong service.

If you’re curious about what’s happening in Dietrich College, read on to learn more.
