Costa Rica Study Abroad Program Applications Due March 15

CMU students can attend a study abroad program in Costa Rica through the Department of Modern Languages

By Stacy Kish

The Department of Modern Languages has partnered with the Monteverde Institute in the Puntarenas region of Costa Rica to offer a summer study abroad and experiential learning program in summer 2023. This program offers an invaluable opportunity for students to learn first-hand about sustainability and environmental stewardship, while also learning Spanish and about Costa Rican culture.

Registration is open. Students accepted into the program will take “Modern Languages in the World: Summer Study Abroad” (82-289) in a mini 4 as part of the program. The application deadline is March 15, 2023.

Costa Rica is one of the most bio-diverse countries in the world. The country has also been lauded as a model for its progressive environmental practices. The Monteverde Institute was founded in 1986 to continue sustainable environmental practices and community engagement. The center is located in the Monteverde Cloud Forest, as part of the Bellbird Biological Corridor. Within the cloud forest are eight different biological zones that are home to thousands of species of flora and fauna.
