Dan Corletti has been appointed assistant dean of administrative operations for Carnegie Mellon University’s Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences, effective March 1, 2023.

Corletti will report to Richard Scheines, Bess Family Dean of Dietrich College, and will serve as a strategic partner in leading the college’s human resources practices.

“Dan Corletti is widely recognized across CMU for being a strong influence and strategic partner in promoting an effective and positive culture,” Scheines said. “I look forward to working with Dan and our college community to sustain and improve what is already an excellent workplace.”

Corletti succeeds Susan Kinchelow, associate dean, who will retire in the spring 2023 semester.

“I want to thank Susan Kinchelow for her more than 35 years of leadership across Dietrich College’s administrative and human resources functions,” Scheines said. “Susan announced her intention to retire this academic year, and I can’t stress enough how important a leader in the Dean’s Office she has been for several decades. She was instrumental in re-envisioning this role, and she will be working closely with Dan, CMU’s Human Resources team and me this spring semester to ensure a smooth transition.”

Corletti will lead the day-to-day operations of the college with oversight to coordinate organizational development, staffing and operational workflows. As the assistant dean of administrative operations, he will work closely with the Human Resources team assigned to the college and will serve as a college representative to the university’s Administrative Leadership Group (ALG).

“I am extremely grateful to Dean Scheines and Susan Kinchelow for providing me with the opportunity to join the Dietrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences as the assistant dean of administrative operations,” Corletti said. “I look forward to working with the Dietrich College faculty, staff and students, along with my colleagues in Human Resources, as together we continue to build upon the many achievements of the college while creating new opportunities for success.”

A long-standing member of University Advancement (UA) and the Office of Human Resources, Corletti has dedicated more than 35 years of service to Carnegie Mellon University. Prior to joining UA in 2002, Corletti held several administrative positions working as a staff member in the Software Engineering Institute and as a business manager in the Mellon College of Science. Upon joining UA, he oversaw the division’s budget, human resources and facilities. In 2018, he was promoted to UA’s director of human resources and was instrumental in setting the direction and strategy for the division’s recruiting and staff engagement efforts, implementing new onboarding programs and in defining performance standards.

Corletti earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial management from CMU’s Tepper School of Business and an MBA from University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.
