Student Advisory Council

The Department of English Student Advisory Council (SAC) is comprised of a group of students across all undergraduate majors in English who want to be actively engaged in the life of the Department.


The primary functions of the Department of English SAC are:

  • Promote communication between the English students, faculty, staff and administration
  • Organize various English student-centered events and programs and disseminate information regarding relevant topics and events in the English Program
  • Provide feedback and insight on academic issues
  • Promote a sense of community within the Department

Some of the ways to get involved in SAC include:

  • Senior dinner planning
  • Major liaison/peer mentor
  • Book Club
  • Diversity & Inclusion initiatives
  • April Yield Marketing & Outreach Team

General expectations for members of the Department of English SAC:

  • Regular attendance at monthly meetings
  • approximately 4 hours of involvement per month
  • Active engagement
