Campus Premiere of “Mr. Pleasant” to be Held Oct. 19

On Wednesday, October 19, the Department of English will host the campus premiere of "Mr. Pleasant," a short film written and produced by Jim Daniels. The film premiered last November as part of the Three Rivers Film Festival and has since appeared in a number of film festivals across the country. The film tells the story of "Red," a college student from a working-class Detroit family who mistakenly thinks that simply escaping his hometown is enough to fix his life and open opportunities for him.

For more information about the movie, watch a trailer of "Mr. Pleasant" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VepOlkUo_Gc or visit the movie's website at http://mrpleasantmovie.com/.

Following the screening, Daniels, along with the film's director, Point Park University teaching artist John Rice, will provide artistic commentary, and Richard Purcell will place the film in the context of contemporary American film. The screening will be held in Adamson Auditorium, Baker Hall 136A, starting at 6:30 pm.

We hope you can join us for this very special event.
