Bio

My scholarship examines representations of (East) Asian/American identities and communities in 20th and 21st century film and literature. In particular, I focus on the ways in which Asian/American experiences and perspectives are coded, portrayed, contested, and complicated by film through visual and narrative elements. My work will turn specifically towards Korean/American film for my dissertation as I plan to analyze how feelings of grief, loss, and acceptance are portrayed by Korean diaspora in the United States.
