Spring 2023 Housing Move-In
Welcome back, all returning and new housing residents! All housing buildings will re-open for the Spring 2023 semester at 9 am (ET) on Friday, January 13, 2023. Students are welcome to return any time between Friday, January 13, at 9 am through Monday, January 16.
Returning residents should already be in possession of their CMU ID card or room key and can head directly to their room. If you lost your ID card during break, please visit the HUB to get a new card or use the Mobile ID application to access your room. Lost hard keys should be reported to email@example.com in advance so that a lock change and new keys may be ordered.
New Residents: Key or temporary access card pick-up will be available for new spring residents at the Residence on Fifth (4700 Fifth Avenue) front desk during the posted desk hours on this page. New residents will be required to show a government-issued photo ID to pick up their key or temporary access card. Five- minute parking is available in the front pull through driveway at 4700 Fifth Avenue for key and card pick up.
Please limit the time you are parked around all buildings to only the time needed to unload your vehicle. Campus Police, Parking Services and City of Pittsburgh Parking Authority will continue to enforce all traffic and parking regulations and ticketing as normal. In order to avoid violating any parking or traffic regulations, please do not leave your vehicle unattended. Free parking is available after 5 pm and on weekends in the East Campus Garage (with a CMU ID) and in the Morewood Parking Lot (no ID needed).
Upon arrival to campus, residents are encouraged to let us know that they've arrived by using the self-check-in link (you will be asked to log in using your Andrew credentials):
Residents living in Fairfax and Shady Oak are required to check-in using the self-check-in link, once they've returned to campus.
Residents in all other buildings will be checked in automatically based on the first card tap to your room door. However, there is a delay of up to six hours between the first tap and the time that you are checked into the system. If you need to place a maintenance request for your room, you must first be checked in. If you are not seeing the Maintenance Request link in the Housing Portal, use the self-check-in link above to get yourself checked into your room.

Mid-Semeter Breaks (Fall and Spring)
All residential buildings will remain open during the mid-semester breaks listed below. Residents are welcome to come and go as they see fit and are not required to register to stay.
- Fall Break: Saturday, October 15, 2022 - Sunday, October 23, 2022
- Thanksgiving Break: Wednesday, November 23, 2022 - Sunday, November 27, 2022
- Spring Break: Saturday, March 4, 2023 - Sunday, March 12, 2023
Most residential buildings will close at the end of fall semester and will remain closed for the duration of winter break. Information regarding fall closing and winter break housing options can be found on our Winter Break Housing website.
