English Professor Hilary Masters Wins Short Story Bronze
English Professor Hilary Masters was recently honored by the Association of Independent Publishers. His collection of short fiction, "How the Indians Buried Their Dead," received the 2010 Bronze Medal in the Literary Short Story Collection category.
"Of course, the award is very much a pleasure-to be singled out by others ‘in the business,'" Masters says.
"How the Indians Buried Their Dead" is his third short fiction collection and was published by Southern Methodist University Press.
"The book is a collection of stories written and published in different journals in the last five years or so," Masters explains.
Masters, who is a professor in the Creative Writing program, will publish his 10th novel, titled "Post" in the fall of 2010.
The Independent Publisher Book Awards, founded in 1996, seek to recognize titles published by independent authors and publishers in categories ranging from traditional fiction and non-fiction all the way to horror and cookbooks.
