Bio

Suzanne Meyer (she/her) is an active practitioner in language education with a depth of experience in both domestic and international contexts.  In the US, Suzanne has held positions at the University of Pittsburgh, the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and Indiana University South Bend, teaching foundational writing courses, technical writing courses, and courses in oral communication in addition to non-credit ESOL courses offered through university intensive English programs.  Prior to that, Suzanne’s experience includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, interning in El Salvador, working in a language school in Hamamatsu, Japan, and in credit-bearing university-level programs in Nagoya, Japan.  She has enjoyed working with students and colleagues with wide-ranging linguistic and cultural backgrounds throughout her career.

Suzanne’s areas of expertise extend beyond the classroom.  Her focus materials and course development are guided by tenets of engagement and critical thinking along with currency and authenticity.  Suzanne has been responsible for coordinated course and program-wide curriculum development efforts.  Additionally, she has administered ESL programs and other academic units.  Suzanne furthermore acts as a site reviewer for the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation and has taken leadership positions in professional organizations.
