Bio

I have been teaching for 28 years in various space in higher education including ESL programs, writing centers and 1st year and graduate writing programs.

My teaching interests include writing at all levels and information literacy.  I am particularly interested in focusing students on writing as a process to promote development of writing expertise.

My current research interests include the science of learning and small teaching as well as online teaching practices, reflection in teaching and learning, and the well-being of stakeholders in higher education. Education is changing at a rapid pace -- the practices of teachers must continually adapt to match students' goals and needs as well as the changing face of higher education.

I have been a project coordinator and co-author of  2 books, The International Student’s Guide to Writing a Research Paper and The ESL Writer’s Handbook with accompanying workbook.  Most recently I have also written a solo work, Developing Information Literacy Skills: A Guide to Finding, Evaluating and Citing Sources.  I am currently working on a writing project about best teaching practices informed by what the science of learning can tell us.

I continue to thrive as I seek to investigate and understand best practices for helping students learn.
