Bio
Alan Thomas Kohler is an accomplished educational leader, teacher, instructional designer and communication specialist with 22+ years of experience in higher ed, entrepreneurship, and non-profit management. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, an M.A. in Applied Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts Boston and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching from the University of Arizona. His past and current work is in AI and education, instructional and curriculum design, professional and technical communication, and second language writing. Current research projects take a teaching-as-research approach (TAR) and are examining the integration of AI into writing, learning, and teaching processes. Additional research and professional interests include UX design approaches to classroom learning, higher ed and program administration, and teacher training & development.
