Fairfax Ultimate Summer Playlist

By Gina Mulh, Fairfax Housefellow

While CMU students are spread out around the world, there is likely a hobby that we all have in common: music! Whether it be playing an instrument, singing, dancing in your kitchen, listening to music while driving, or having Spotify on in the background while working/studying, chances are high that we have all been engaging with music in some way.

Classical music has been proven to improve retention of information, and many forms of repetitive music such as pop and lofi beats are known to help us focus. Here are some of Fairfax’s current favorite songs, artists, and composers to listen to this summer:

  • Ludovico Einaudi (New-age pianist and composer)
  • Claude Debussy (Impressionist composer)
  • The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Soundtrack
  • Billy Joel, Piano Man
  • The Beatles
  • Niall Horan, Heartbreak Weather Album
  • Maroon 5, Memories
  • Gotye, Hearts a Mess

I hope that you all are able to explore these artists, composers, songs, and pieces and find something new that you enjoy. Music is a powerful tool to improve focus, positivity, and memory, and is a great way to keep us all connected this summer!
