The whole is bigger than the sum of its parts

Jafry O’Connor, R.

The primary goal of the revamped Business Leadership Endeavor I, II, and III is to help students develop as whole persons. The specific academic and professional lessons and pursuits are most valuable when they meld into a coherent whole, allowing the student to fully blossom and reach their full potential. One aspect I will emphasize is the building of a strong community at Carnegie Mellon University.  A strategy employed to this end will be a mentoring program where students will be assigned mentors from current senior level students and alumni from various industries relevant to students’ areas of interest. Students will reach out to their mentors to seek their advice and learn from their expertise using assigned frameworks. Students will be asked to reflect upon their experience via short reflection write-ups and by engaging in discussions and in class exercises. I will share the mentoring program structure and assessment tools at the roundtable lightning session.
