Dr. Chad Hershock is the Executive Director of the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence & Educational Innovation. Chad has eighteen years of experience consulting individually with instructors and designing innovative educational development programs on evidence-based teaching, technology-enhanced learning, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Before joining the Eberly Center in 2013, he served as an assistant director and coordinator of science, health science, and instructional technology initiatives at the University of Michigan’s Center for Research on Learning and Teaching. He is currently serving in his fourth year on the executive board of the Professional and Organizational Development Network, the largest professional society for educational developers in the United States. His academic training includes a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Biology with Honors from the Pennsylvania State University.

Chad has published over 20 articles and book chapters on the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL), Educational Development (SoED), and clonal plant ecology. His  teaching experience includes courses in ecology and education at both Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Michigan. Most recently, he designed and taught two CMU courses: Evidence-Based Teaching in STEM for the Mellon College of Science and Global Ecological Issues and Controversies for the Department of Engineering and Public Policy in the College of Engineering.
