Update on the University’s Executive Management Team

Dear Colleagues,

I write today to announce that I am making permanent two temporary senior leadership appointments on the university’s Executive Management Team that were made following the departure of two executives. These permanent appointments are effective immediately.

Last summer, I asked Daryl Weinert, who was serving as CMU’s Chief of Staff and Vice President for Strategic Initiatives, as well as the university’s COVID Coordinator, to oversee five units in the Division of Operations: Campus Design and Facility Development, Enterprise Risk Management, Facilities Management and Campus Services, University Police and Business Support Services. Daryl’s tenure overseeing these units during this challenging year has been a marked success. After consulting with members of the university’s leadership and other stakeholders, and with the support of the Board of Trustees, I have decided to permanently appoint Daryl as CMU’s next Vice President for Operations.

Last December, I asked Mary Jo Dively, who is CMU’s Vice President and General Counsel, to also take over supervision of the Office of the Board of Trustees, as well as the duties that accompany the role of Secretary of the Corporation. Over this semester Mary Jo has performed these additional duties exquisitely, and to the great satisfaction of the trustees. With their assent, Mary Jo is permanently appointed as Secretary of the Corporation in addition to her responsibilities as Vice President and General Counsel, overseeing both the university’s legal affairs and human resources office.

Please join me in congratulating Daryl and Mary Jo on these appointments, and in thanking them for their service to CMU.

Sincerely,

Farnam Jahanian
President
