Dear Members of the CMU Community,

This weekend marks our nation’s annual observance of Veterans Day, when we are called to remember all those who have served our country as veterans, as well as all active-duty service men and women and their families.

Our achievements as a community stand as a tribute to the bravery of all the patriots who fought to preserve our right to free expression and the pursuit of knowledge. We owe an incredible debt of gratitude to these extraordinary men and women, especially those CMU faculty, students, staff and alumni who serve our country and enhance our community as military veterans.

To commemorate Veterans Day on our Pittsburgh campus, the CMU Naval ROTC Unit will be hosting a ceremony on Monday, November 12 at 7:50 a.m. at the flagpole on The Cut. The event will include raising of the colors, a salute to veterans, and remarks by Captain William Breitfelder, Commanding Officer of our Naval ROTC program.

I hope you will take a moment this Veterans Day to honor all those who have defended our nation and have safeguarded our freedoms. In recognizing their service and sacrifice, we celebrate the democratic values that unite us all as Americans.

Sincerely,
Farnam Jahanian
