Post-Graduate Placement
Many of our graduates continue on to some of the most prestigious graduate programs and companies in the country.
Psychology is an extremely versatile discipline and our students excel in a variety of career paths, including research, medicine, social work, nutrition, project management, marketing, writing and education.
If you’re not quite sure where to go yet, try reading about what past graduates are doing now to get some ideas.
Career Resources
In addition to preparing students for life after graduation, we strive to help them discover where to go next to meet their professional goals.
All of our students can receive frequent, one-on-one advice from their Psychology Department advisor and may also take advantage of the following resources:
- Departmental advising through faculty and advisors.
- Career and Professional Development Center or the CPDC provides a wealth of resources. Handshake allows students to search for internships, jobs or make an appointment with their CMU Career Consultant. The Career Exploration site also offers tools and resources such as Pathway U, myCareer Path, and CMUniverse which connects CMU undergraduates with alumni.
The CPDC keeps an updated calendar of events with details and registration information regarding Career Fairs, Events and Workshops that are helpful in interviewing skills, resume building and job search.
Recent Graduate Placement
Each year CMU’s Career and Professional Development Center surveys recent graduates to gather data on the career paths they have selected. A tool has been created called CMU First Destination Outcomes which allows users to explore results relating to geography, primary major, and secondary degrees. We encourage you to view recent data for current and past years through this tool.
