On April 21, the Tepper School of Business proudly honored 34 undergraduate students for their exceptional academic accomplishments at its annual Honors Student Reception, where students were inducted into two of the most prestigious academic honor societies: Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) and Omicron Delta Epsilon (ODE).

The ceremony welcomed 16 new members into BGS and 18 into ODE, bringing together students, faculty, and administrators to recognize the students’ academic achievements and their commitment to leadership and integrity.

Simmons Professor of Finance, said while addressing the honorees at the ceremony. “As members of these prestigious societies, you are recognized for your academic success, as well as your contributions beyond the classroom.”

BGS is the international honor society for business students, recognized globally as a mark of excellence. Induction into BGS is a distinction reserved for the top academic performers at AACSB-accredited business schools. The society’s mission centers on personal and professional integrity, academic achievement, and a lifelong commitment to excellence. This year’s BGS inductees included Business Administration majors who graduated in December 2024, as well as those who will be graduating in May 2025.

ODE, the international honor society for economics, recognizes outstanding scholarship in the discipline and aims to foster closer academic relationships among students and faculty. With a mission to advance the study and application of economics worldwide, ODE celebrates students who show both academic excellence and potential for contributing to the future of economic research and practice. In addition to graduating seniors majoring in Economics, several juniors were inducted into the society this year.

“It is a pleasure to offer my congratulations to our honors students,” Ales said. “This is one of several special moments over the next few weeks where we come together to honor the accomplishments of our graduating seniors.”

As these students prepare to embark on the next chapters of their academic and professional journeys, their induction into BGS and ODE stands as a testament to their hard work, dedication, and future promise in business and economics.
