What's New in Room Selection?
Room Selection 2019 begins on February 20 and brings with it plenty of exciting changes.
Room Type Changes
As part of the Housing Master plan and in order to align with national housing room type naming standards, Carnegie Mellon Housing Services is updating the names of its room types. There are no changes in room rate or building name – only the room type name will change.

Doherty Apartments Available for Fall 2019 Only
Doherty will only be available for occupancy for the fall 2019 semester, as it will close in December 2019 for future new construction plans. If you are graduating in December 2019, Doherty will be your only housing opton during Room Selection this year. If you know you are studying abroad for spring 2020, we encourage you to apply for Doherty. Additionally, the capacity of Doherty will decrease for the Fall 2019 semester. Apartment Triples will be converted to Apartment Doubles, and some Studio Doubles will be converted to Student Singles.
Fairfax Apartments
Fairfax Apartments will become fully occupied by Carnegie Mellon residents by January 2020!
Fairfax is available to students during the following phases of Room Selection: Retain Your Current Room, Room with a Retainer (Pull-ins), General Room Selection, and Block Housing. It's also a gender inclusive housing option.
Save the Dates: Room Selection Open Houses
This year for Room Selection, there will be two open houses instead of three. Additionally, trolleys will take you to the various housing communities available to upper-class students for 2019-20!
