The Residence on Fifth is a first-year apartment building located in the Oakland neighborhood of Carnegie Mellon's campus. Residents of "The Rez," as the building is affectionately known, take pride in their Oakland heritage and use their unique location to take impromptu off-campus trips and participate in community service events in the local area.

The Residence on Fifth offers apartment units for two and three occupants. The building offers central air-conditioning, a fitness room, a TV-room, a piano room, kitchens, laundry facilities, several lounges, a movie watching room (shown above), and wireless Internet.

Residents enjoy a weekly tradition called "Den at Ten," which offers students an opportunity to relax, unwind, and socialize with other members of the community. These events are typically characterized by a theme, often corresponding to other CMU campus events.
