Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship
Advance the Tepper School as a vibrant campus hub for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship.
Innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship play a major role in the creation of wealth and the advancement of living standards throughout the world. Carnegie Mellon's focus on finding solutions to problems that matter to society along with its culture of cross-campus collaboration provide an ideal environment for all who aspire to make an impact. Entrepreneurial-minded students and faculty are supported by a rich and growing ecosystem of entrepreneurship courses, mentors, competitions, workshops, incubators and funding sources — catalyzed and nurtured by the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship. The Tepper School plays a central role in advancing the interdisciplinary culture of the university and supporting the startup activities of its students, faculty and alumni across the globe.
Goal: The Tepper Quad as a Collaborative Campus Hub
The new Tepper Quad physically moves the Tepper School from the edge of campus to the center. With this new location and its collaborative design, the Tepper Quad is destined to become the hub of intellectual and social activity for the entire Carnegie Mellon community, promoting and supporting cross-campus collaboration.
Goal: The Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship
The Tepper School is a key partner of the Swartz Center for Entrepreneurship, Carnegie Mellon's flagship entrepreneurial hub. Together, the Tepper School and the Swartz Center have become an important destination for world-class faculty and student entrepreneurs, and valuable contributors to the vibrant innovation ecosystem for CMU and the Pittsburgh region.
Goal: Entrepreneurial Culture and Mindset
Carnegie Mellon University has a culture of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, for which the Tepper School plays a vital role. As one of the first business schools to introduce entrepreneurial studies into its curriculum in the 1970s, the Tepper School is an academic role model for entrepreneurial thought and action. The Tepper School will continue to provide a world-class education in entrepreneurship for all students at Carnegie Mellon, and partner with CMU’s other schools and colleges, our network of alumni entrepreneurs, early-stage investors, the local Pittsburgh business community, and others to create a vibrant innovation ecosystem for aspiring entrepreneurs.
