Meet the Undergraduate Business Administration Team
Our team works with Undergraduate Business Administration students to support their Tepper School and CMU experience, from orientation to graduation. We also work with students pursuing the business minor or additional major in addition to their primary major. Students are always welcome to stop by our offices and say hello, in person!
Burton Hollifield, Faculty Head, PNC Professor of Finance
Burton is the faculty head of the Undergraduate Business Administration program and PNC Professor of Finance at the Tepper School of Business. He is responsible for the overall success of the academic program, with particular attention to the academic curriculum and faculty engagement. Burton is a CMU alumnus (Ph.D.) and also studied at Queen’s University at Kingston and the University of Calgary. He currently teaches Investment Analysis as a business elective course and teaches MBA students. Burton can often be seen walking around campus when he isn’t traveling and is a big Pittsburgh Penguins fan.
Jennifer Wegner, Executive Director
Jennifer joined the Tepper School in September 2017, moving to Pittsburgh from Ann Arbor, Michigan. As executive director, she oversees academic advising, course management and co-curricular experiences for the Undergraduate Business Administration program. Jennifer has a bachelor’s degree in communications, master’s of education in higher education student affairs administration from the University of Vermont, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration at New England College – she clearly likes being a student! Jennifer enjoys reading non-fiction, cheering for her favorite football and hockey teams, and traveling in the U.S. and abroad.
Sarah Reid Jovanelli, Senior Academic Advisor and Program Manager
Sarah joined the Undergraduate Business Administration team in October 2018, after relocating to Pittsburgh from Burlington, Vermont. Sarah has a bachelor’s degree in English literature, a master’s of education in higher education student affairs administration from the University of Vermont, and taught abroad for a year with the Japan Exchange & Teaching (JET) Programme. Sarah enjoys spending time with her family, baking chocolate chip cookies, watching British television shows, and traveling.
Rubab Jafry O'Connor, Senior Academic Advisor and Program Manager
Rubab joined the Undergraduate Business Administration team in 2010. In her current role, she advises students and co-teaches the Business Leadership Endeavor (BLE) course sequence. Rubab holds an doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s in policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University. She’s excited about her recent move to a new home, a historic house on Pittsburgh’s North Side, with her husband, daughter, son, dog, and cat. Outside of work, her passions include running, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
Stephen Pajewski, Senior Academic Advisor and Program Manager
Steve joined the Undergraduate Business Administration team in 2010 and has worked in various departments at CMU for 25 years. In addition to advising UBA students, Steve is involved in organizing case competitions and is part of the course planning team. He holds a bachelor of science in management engineering from Grove City College, a bachelor's and master's in art history, and a doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh. In his free time, Steve enjoys tennis and bicycling, and is a photographer of urban landscapes.
Catherine Smith, Administrative Coordinator
Catherine has been employed at the Tepper School since 2011. She began working in the Dean’s Office before transitioning to the Building Operations team. In that role, she was the first face for all visitors and students at the Tepper School information desk, winning a Tepper Staff Committee team award in 2012. She also worked with the Master of Science in Computational Finance program before moving to the Undergraduate Business Administration team in 2015. Catherine enjoys working with students and her colleagues, and her hobbies include reading, travel, and spending time with family.
Tara Trapani, Senior Academic Advisor and Program Manager
Tara began her career at Carnegie Mellon in the Heinz College, shifted to K-12 public education, then re-joined the CMU community in 2015 as a member of the Undergraduate Business Administration team. Tara holds a bachelor of arts in political science from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a master of public management from CMU, and recently completed a professional coach certification from Duquesne University. She and her family spend most of their free time juggling soccer, football, orchestra rehearsals, and camping. She not so secretly enjoys binge-watching shows on Netflix and Prime if you’re looking for recommendations!
