Claudia Kirkpatrick (DC, '82)

claudia-kirkpatrick-square.pngClaudia Kirkpatrick was beloved for her dedication to the Tepper School of Business’s educational mission, her devotion to its undergraduate students, and her mentorship.

She contributed to major education development initiatives, advocated for excellence in undergraduate programming, and drove the creation of the Tepper School undergraduate business communications curriculum.

Raised in Massachusetts, Kirkpatrick received degrees from Smith College and Boston University, and a Doctor of Arts from Carnegie Mellon University.

She held several positions at Carnegie Mellon, retiring as Tepper School associate teaching professor of business management communications.

Her other roles included Development Office staff writer and Tepper School publications director and academic advisor.

Kirkpatrick’s honors included the 1996-1997 Carnegie Mellon University Academic Advising Award and the 2007 Tepper School Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Program Sustained Teaching Excellence Award.

She volunteered for organizations that included the Sierra Club, Third Presbyterian Church, East End Cooperative Ministry, and WQED-FM.
