Why Carnegie Mellon for Science
Active Citizenship
MCS students give back to the community and to the world. Whether they are sharing the excitement of science with K-12 students from Pittsburgh-area schools or bringing health care to those in need, our students are actively involved and globally engaged.
Above: Ashley Kilp (S’10) spent “two months of crazy and awesome and wonderful” in the West African nation of Ghana as a volunteer Global Impact Fellow with the nonprofit organization Unite for Sight. She visited more than 35 communities, saw dozens of patients each day, evaluated their vision and checked for eye diseases.
