Elective Studio
Elective studio lessons are weekly one-on-one sessions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.- 14 lessons offered per semester: 30-, 45-, or 60-minutes per week.
- CMU students must notify the music extension office if they wish to drop the course during the drop/add period.
- Withdrawal Policy (as of Spring 2027): Students who withdraw after the 6th week of classes will be charged for the number of weeks they've been enrolled in the course at the time of the request. This is regardless of the number of lessons taken.
Elective Studio recitals are on pause at this time.
Group Classes
Group classes are settings where a group of students are taught musical technique by one instructor. We offer group classes for the following areas:- Group Piano
- Group Guitar
- Group Jazz Piano I - instructor permission required
- Group Jazz Piano II - instructor permission required
Group classes are available exclusively to CMU undergraduate students.
Fee Information
Spring 2027 Fees:30-minute lessons (3.0 units): $740
45-minute lessons (6.0 units): $1,110
60-minute lessons (9.0 units): $1,480
Group classes (3.0 units): Free and available to CMU undergraduates only
- Music majors and BXA with Music concentration - lessons that are not a part of your degree curriculum will be given a 50% discount.
- CMU Employees - tuition benefits will NOT apply to music extension fees.
- Full-time CMU students will be billed on their student accounts after the third week of classes. All other participants will be invoiced directly.
